Dental Therapy
The Dental Service at Nyarugenge District Hospital is dedicated to promoting oral health through preventive education, early diagnosis, and the treatment of oral diseases and structural defects. The department provides a range of essential dental services, including dental restorations aimed at restoring the function, integrity, and morphology of teeth affected by caries, congenital disorders, or trauma. Tooth extractions are performed for non-restorable teeth resulting from severe decay, periodontal disease, or injury. The service also offers scaling and root planning, a thorough cleaning procedure that removes plaque and calculus deposits above and below the gum line to prevent or manage periodontal conditions. In addition, the department places a strong emphasis on oral health education, encouraging proper hygiene practices and regular dental check-ups for early detection and prevention of oral health issues. Dental radiology services are also provided, involving the acquisition and interpretation of dental X-rays to support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning. Through these services, the Dental Department plays a vital role in enhancing the overall well-being of patients by ensuring comprehensive and accessible oral healthcare.
