Pharmacy
The Pharmacy Service at Nyarugenge District Hospital plays a central role in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines and medical products. It is responsible for the procurement, preparation, storage, and distribution of medications, medical consumables, surgical supplies, and antiretroviral (ARV) therapies. The pharmacy supports both inpatient and outpatient care by dispensing prescribed medications and offering expert guidance to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. In addition to making essential drugs, devices, and therapeutic materials readily available for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, the pharmacy service is committed to ensuring the quality and safety of all medicines supplied. It establishes and maintains secure systems for storage and supply, provides accurate medication information, and actively works to minimize medication errors and related risks. Through these functions, the Pharmacy Service contributes significantly to patient safety, treatment effectiveness, and the overall quality of healthcare delivery at the hospital.
